Tenth Annual Humanity Awards

For the tenth year, Creative
Living Counseling Center (CLCC) will honor local high school teenagers
who have made significant contributions to their communities through
actions demonstrating the qualities of caring, compassion, justice and
non violence leading to community building.
Teens will be recognized at a gala
celebration held 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Cedar Hill
Church, 422 Cedar Hill Avenue, Wyckoff. In addition to receiving
certificates of appreciation from CLCC and the Bergen County Executive’s
Office, students will be celebrated in musical presentations offered by
Broadway stars and exceptionally talented teens. Julie Hanson, former
lead as Christine in Phantom of the Opera will again
delight the audience.
The Humanity Awards were initiated
after the tragedy at Columbine and the extensive press coverage of teens
who had committed tragic actions as a way of lifting up and encouraging
those teens who are making a profound difference in their communities.
This event has become an exciting
and inspiring celebration in the life of Bergen County.

TEENS MAKING A DIFFERENCE TO BE RECOGNIZED WITH HUMANITY AWARDS
This event will include performances by Broadway star,
Julie Hanson, of "Phantom of the Opera" and other Broadway performers
as well as exceptionally talented local teen soloists who will honor
the awardees with a "Broadway show." A gala reception will follow.

said Dr. Gretchen Janssen, Executive Director of Creative Living
Counseling Center.
"Hearing
the stories of these teens who give so much of themselves to those in
our communities who are in need reassures me that our country has a
good future. Their initiatives include clothing drives for the
homeless, caring for terminally ill students of their own age,
creating positive environments for those who feel marginalized so they
can be prepared for college. and many other projects."
This program is also the major fundraiser to support
the outreach programs of CLCC. These include groups for bereaved
teens, anger management groups for men and women, workshops addressed
to specific needs. Creative Living has been a non-profit interfaith
counseling service with offices in Bergen and Passaic counties for 41
years. CLCC is committed to enriching individual, family and community
life though professional psychological counseling services which also
embrace the spirituality of its clients.

or $30 at the door, students 10-18 and senior citizens are $15 at the

2009 marks

Humanity Award recipients will be recognized at a gala celebration held
7 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Cedar Hill Church, 422 Cedar
Hill Avenue, Wyckoff. They will receive certificates of appreciation
from CLCC and the Bergen County Executive’s Office and be celebrated in
musical presentations offered by Broadway stars and exceptionally
talented teens.
The
Humanity Awards lift up and encourage teens who are making profound,
positive differences in their communities. The Awards were initiated in
response to the extensive press coverage of the tragedy at Columbine.
The
